Optional: Student co-analysis

Bringing students back in to help interpret their own data is one of the most powerful follow-ups to a listening session. The Polaris report gives you our read on the conversations. A co-analysis session gives students theirs.

This is independent of the Polaris report. Districts and youth organizations use these sessions to brainstorm action items, surface ideas young people want to push forward, and translate what came up in the interviews into something the school can actually act on. The two views often line up. When they don't, that gap is usually the most useful thing in the room.

Free resources

The Polaris Education library at pd.humanrestorationproject.org includes a set of co-analysis resources for any team to use and adapt:

• Facilitation guides for running a co-analysis session with students.
• Sharing tools that let districts pull quotes and excerpts from their interviews with PII redacted, so students can read the material safely and generate their own themes from it.
• Templates and prompts for turning what the group surfaces into concrete next steps the school can commit to.

Pull what works and fold it into the professional development or student leadership programs you already run.

Want our team to lead the session?

If you'd rather not run the co-analysis yourself, the Polaris Education team can lead it for you, either on-site at your school or over video. We bring the same resources linked above, plus our facilitators in the room (or on the call) to keep the conversation moving and translate what students surface into something actionable.

This is a paid add-on. The upside is that you're not also responsible for designing and delivering the session as a side project alongside your rollout. Our team handles the facilitation, which means your staff can focus on supporting students and following up on what comes out of the room.
