Your Organization

Your roster, join codes, participant coverage, and school details.

Your Organization is the card on your dashboard that covers everyone who can take part in your listening sessions and everything Polaris knows about your school. Four tabs.

Roster

Everyone in your organization, with a count of members, students, and facilitators across the top. Filter by role, sort by name, email, or when they were added.

Two ways people get on it:

  • Bulk Add Students. Paste a list of email addresses, comma-separated, and Polaris creates their accounts. They still have to sign in themselves; until they do, they show as pending.
  • A join code. Share the student code and students add themselves. Easier for a whole building, less precise about who ends up in there.

Most schools use both: bulk-add the classes you're listening to, and keep the join code around for the stragglers.

Facilitators

A facilitator is a student who can host collaborative Sensemaking activities for their class. It's a per-student toggle on the roster, and it only becomes available once that student has signed in at least once. You can flip several at a time by selecting them first.

Facilitator access is about hosting activities, not about seeing more data. Turning it on doesn't give a student access to reports or to other students' conversations.

Participant Overview

If you added participant info questions to a session, this is where the answers roll up — aggregated across every session you've run, not per session.

The point is coverage. It's the page that tells you that you heard from 40 sophomores and 4 seniors, so the next session can go find the seniors. Export CSV pulls the whole thing out if you want it in a slide for your leadership team.

If you never added participant questions, this page is empty and links you to create a session with some.

Join Codes

Your organization has two codes, each four words long. The code someone enters is what decides their role, so the two are not interchangeable:

  • Student code — share with students so they can join your school. Creates student accounts: no reports, no roster.
  • Teacher code — only share with staff. Creates teacher accounts, which include access to your listening reports.

Both are on this page, labeled, with a copy button. If someone signs up with the wrong one they end up in the wrong role and an administrator has to fix it, so it's worth being deliberate about which code goes in which email.

Treat the teacher code like a password. Anyone who enters it gets staff access to your organization, including your listening reports. Don't put it on a slide, a handout, or anything a student device sees.

Rotate generates a new code immediately and stops the old one from working. Anyone who already joined keeps their access — rotating only affects people who haven't joined yet. Rotate when a code has been shared more widely than you meant, or at the end of a school year.

Info

Your school's name, type, and identifier as Polaris has them. Read-only. If something is wrong or your school's name has changed, contact your Polaris admin and we'll update it.
